Have you ever heard the phrase, “Never saw it coming?”  It means that something catches you by surprise and that it’s completely and totally unexpected.  What is something that you never saw coming?  In our passage, we’re astounded at the behavior of the people of God; behavior totally breaks the promises they’ve just made to honor and obey the Lord only.  We never saw this coming…, and the way God ultimately responds to them, and to us, is something that we never saw coming as well.
