Join Pepperdine University English professor Lisa Smith as she shares the surprising backstories of Whitefield’s most unique life events as well as his own words of passion for God from his personal journals, letters, and autobiography. The international preaching sensation who helped start the First Great Awakening will come alive in this thirty-minute presentation designed to encourage all followers of Jesus to live lives of passion and purpose. Bio

Lisa Smith teaches English at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Her writings include Godly Character(s): Insights for Spiritual Passion from the Lives of 8 Women in the Bible; The First Great Awakening in Colonial American Newspapers: A Shifting Story; and essays on historic religious revivals, innovative pedagogy, and spiritual growth. Lisa earned a PhD in early American literature and lives in southern California. She attends Lighthouse Church and can be found online at lisaraesmith.com.
