...Thankful for the Past
Embracing the Future...
White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church has been ministering to the people of
Newark, Delaware for more than 285 years. Worship services began in 1721 at
the Old Meeting House on Polly Drummond Hill, about one mile north of the
present church site.
In 1752, a church building was constructed on the present
site. That building stood for 103 years. It was replaced by the present
structure in 1855 which was modified in 1996 with the addition of a front
addition housing an elevator for easy access to the second floor Sanctuary.
The Nurture Building was erected in 1961 and expanded in
1992 to accommodate the activities of the growing congregation. The first
and second floors provide space for WCCPC's Sunday Church School, Pastoral
and staff offices, the nursery, and the library. Fellowship Halls and
kitchen facilities are located on the lower level.
Improvements continue to enhance our worship experience and
expand our service to the Lord, Jesus Christ. Exciting renovations in
2005 provided a special place for our youth to meet ( "The Roxbury"), and a
new sound system for the sanctuary.
WCCPC is a growing, vibrant church of over 500
members that will continue bringing the hope of the gospel to our members,
our community and a world in need. We offer a variety of programs to promote spiritual growth,
making friends, and serving the community.
